2024 Conference – Call for Presentations

The Foundation for East European Family History Studies (FEEFHS) is accepting speaker proposals for its next conference, which will be held Monday through Friday, August 5-9, 2024.

The conference will be an in-person event. The class sessions will be at the Plaza Hotel in Salt Lake City, Utah, with one day for workshops and four days for presentations. Presenters that are not local can present via Zoom. For the 2024 conference there will no pre-recorded classes.

FEEFHS is looking again for new and exciting topics that span the range of genealogy and family history research. Subjects should draw on the lecturer’s areas of expertise yet be broad enough to appeal to a general audience. Topics should encompass countries or regions of Eastern Europe, including areas of the former Russian Empire, Austro-Hungarian Empire, and German Empire. Other topics such as DNA, minority research, general resources, technology, types of records specific to the locality, religion or other designated focus of the presentation, etc. will also be considered.

All class sessions will be approximately 50 minutes, with an additional 10 minutes for questions.

FEEFHS is also looking for topics for pre-conference workshops, which teach hands-on research skills. Each workshop is 3 hours and is taught in-person at the Plaza Hotel.

FEEFHS will pay a $100 honorarium for each class taught, in person or via Zoom. For a three-hour workshop, the honorarium is $250.

Speakers will receive free registration to the conference, an electronic syllabus, and a ticket to the opening reception, free parking at the Plaza, and a lunch ticket for the day(s) when the classes are taught. For three or more classes taught, the presenter will receive all the above plus a Friday evening banquet ticket.

Each speaker is encouraged to provide one-on-one consultations. These consultations should be arranged directly between the consultant and the attendee.

Each submission for a class or workshop must include:

• Title of presentation (no more than 10-12 words)

• Short outline of each proposed topic

• Summary of the presentation (100 words maximum – to be published on the FEEFHS website)

• Presenter’s preferred name (as you prefer to have it published on the website)
